Good morning everyone. I hope everyone had a great weekend. I felt as though I accomplished a lot. I weeded all the gardens, worked on our ongoing basement finish tasks, and even had time to complete a fun, quick canvas which I will share with you today.
Today’s canvas idea was inspired by a recent Sturbridge Yankee Workshop catalog that I received in the mail. I typically browse quickly through mail order catalogs; however, I immediately stopped on page 3 after a quick glance at a sign that read, “This Is My Happy Place”.
I absolutely love the saying and have used that saying many times myself. I just knew I needed to make myself one, and definitely knew I could reproduce mine on a budget and with supplies I had on hand.
Substrate of your choosing. I used an Dick Blick 11X14 deep edge gallery canvas that I had on hand.
Liquitex Black Gesso.
Acrylic paint for the background. I used Grumbacher Burnt Umber.
Letters. I used my Cricut to die cut my letters and used the font from Artiste, a Close To My Heart cartridge. I cut the small letters at 2.08 inches high and the larger letters at 2.85 inches high. I used my Gypsy to layout the saying. This helped me to determine what the size of the letters needed to be.
Adhesive. I prefer to use Inkessentials Matte Accents.
Sealer medium such as Mod Podge, Collage Pauge, or Gel Medium.
I made this canvas literally in a matter of hours. It was so much fun and will grace the walls in my studio. I would love for you to comment if you too have stumbled across a source of inspiration recently that stopped you in your tracks, that you just had to create or reproduce?
Thank you for stopping by. Have a great week. I will be back soon with another inspiring project.
